U.S. History

The North/The South...

The United States continued to grow during the early-mid 1800's in size and wealth, experiencing revolutions in techonology and business as did other parts of the world... During the earliest phases of expansion, regions of the United States developed differently from each other... Citizens differed in their ideas or progress, government, and religion. For the success of the nation, they tried to compromise on their disagreements... Compromise would be a struggle and to much pride would eventually cause out country to break apart...

Quiz Questions - Explain the quote.

"A house divided cannot stand..."

A House Divided Cannot Stand...

When compromise after compromise failed, the United States was divided by war.. The American Civil War tested the strength of the bond between the states. During the Civil War, Americans fought each other on battlefields and in government. Ideas about slavery and sovereignty led many soldiers to fight. This would lead to one of the greatest and horrific events in American history...
